How to get a library card
Library cards are issued free of charge to Naugatuck residents. To obtain a library card, adults need proof of Naugatuck residency and identification. This may be in the form of a Connecticut driver’s license or other ID and documentation stating a Naugatuck address. Borrowers are responsible for all materials checked out on their card – lost and stolen cards should be reported immediately. The cost to replace a card is $2.00 for the 1st card, $3.00 for the 2nd card, $4.00 for the 3rd card, etc.
All children below ninth grade must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and apply for their cards in the Children’s Department. The adult must have proof of Naugatuck residency and the child must reside in Naugatuck. The adult is responsible for all material charged out on the child’s card.
Once in high school, the student must obtain a card in the Adult Department – current student I.D.s with address may be used as identification or other ID and residency proof will be accepted. The young adult is solely responsible for all material charged out on his or her card.
Out-of-town borrowers are welcome to charge out material from our library. Patrons must have a current library card from their home-town library in order to borrow materials.
