Youth Services Department

The Youth Services Department of the Whittemore Library aims to support you and your family through every stage of childhood literacy. From your first toddler story time, through children’s crafts, book groups and young adult writing workshops, we aim to provide the support you need through a broad and balanced collection, creative programming and excellent service.

Ask at the Circulation Desk for information about library cards for children and young adults, programs and services. We’ll offer advice about books and library materials for all ages, and provide assistance in selecting appropriate resources for your children.

April 2017 at a glance 

Tuesdays at 10:30 am: Story time for 2-3 year olds. Registration is required.     

Wednesdays at 10:30 am: Story time for 3-5 year olds. No registration required.     

Thursdays at 9:30 am: Busy Bees for babies and toddlers 6 months and above. Registration is required. (No busy bees April 6 & 27)

Thursdays at 10 am: Bee Playful for under 3s. (No Bee Playful April 6 & 27th)

Thursdays at 4 pm: Young Writers for grades 8 and above.   

Fridays at 10:30 am: All welcome story time. No registration required.    

Tuesday, April 4 from 5:30 pm: Anime Club for ages 10 and above. Come watch an anime movie and have some fun with friends. Please call to register.

Saturday, April 8 at 9:30 / 10 am: Library Scouts will meet at 9:30 am for a lock-in discussion of “Pax” by Sara Pennypacker. Our regular meeting begins at 10 am. Scouts will continue to work on ‘A year at Hogwarts’. For grades 3-8. Registration required.

Saturday, April 8 at 10 am: Friends of the Library book sale in the Nellie Beatty room 10am - 2pm

Tuesday, April 11 from 2:45 – 4:45 pm: Drop in seasonal Crafternoon with Ms. Paris for ages 3 – 10. No registration req’d.

Tuesday, April 18 from 4:15 – 5 pm: Viking the library dog will be visiting the department to hear young readers who need a patient listener. Please call to register, spaces are limited.

Wednesday, April 12 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm: Ms. Diana invites teens and tweens aged 10 and above to a drop in Teen Crafty Afternoon. Easter egg decorating.

Tuesday, April 18 from 5: 30 pm: Anime Club for ages 10 and above. Come watch an anime movie and have some fun with friends. Please call to register.

Wednesday, March 22 from 4 pm: Matt’s Tech Club: STEM activities for kids ages 8 – 12 with Matt. Please call to register
